What is Moissanite?

Moissanite is a naturally occurring mineral called silicon carbide, which is very rare and can’t be found in nature large enough to be cut into a gemstone

Moissanite today is created in a laboratory and hence is more environmentally friendly compared to naturally mined diamonds.

  • It was first discovered in 1893 by a French scientist named Henri Moissan, who later won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He discovered microscopic particles of the gem that would eventually bear his name in Arizona, in a crater created by a meteorite that fell to Earth. Moissanite was named in honor of Moissan later on in his life.

Why buy Moissanite Jewellery?

  • Moissanite is known to have a higher light refraction index than diamonds (265-269) making it the most brilliant gemstone known to man, whilst still having a similar hardness rating in mohs (9.25). You end up with a stone that has a luscious sparkle even next to a diamond at a fraction of the price. Of course gemstone experts can tell the difference from the extra "fire" the Moissanite offers, but it is not uncommon for people in passing to mistake them for actual diamonds.

  • Since Moissanite is so rare, it has to be lab-grown, meaning due to the ease in the manufacturing process, Moissanite is much cheaper than even lower quality lab-grown diamonds. Although the process is the same, lab-grown diamonds have a much higher price tag.

  • Moissanite stones are always conflict free, grown in a lab by skilled professionals who are paid a fair wage, you will never have to worry about buying jewellery that was unethically sourced when buying Moissanite.

  • Moissanite stones will never dull nor fade, in 10 years, or even a 100 years - making it possible to pass down jewellery as it will always remain in like new condition, partly in thanks to our usage of 925 Sterling Silver.

How do I care for my emerald and diamond earrings?

To maintain their beauty, clean your earrings with a soft, damp cloth and store them in a jewelry box when not in use. Avoid exposing them to harsh chemicals or extreme temperatures.

Why isn't your Jewellery sorted by gender?

  • When building our first ever catalogue, we did not want to confine our pieces to gender labels. Although there are some pieces that are considered more "masculine" or "feminine" than others, our jewellery is sold as Unisex as we believe the wearer decides all, and that if a particular piece of jewellery resonates with the wearer, then it already belongs to them.

Do you offer a Warranty?

  • Yes, all of our products are covered by a lifetime warranty. Our jewellery will not fade, rust or fall apart. In the unlikely event that any of this occurs, we will offer a free repair or replacement*, No extra fees or charges, just make sure your jewellery is well looked after!

*Providing the item is in stock, photos of the damage must be provided.

Can I shower with your Jewellery on?

  • No, although other brands might claim this, it is a bit misleading.  Although the jewellery of course will not fall apart if it comes into contact with water, repeat contact is not a good idea. All of our pieces are made with 925 Sterling Silver which will not rust, but it's always a good idea to remove jewellery before entering water for hygiene purposes. Sometimes jewellery is treated with a special coating such as rhodium to prevent scratching and/or tarnishing, and repeat contact with water will speed up the time in which it will wear off.

Does Moissanite really pass on a diamond tester?

  • Technically yes, but mostly no. Moissanite has similar properties to a diamond and will show as a diamond on a cheap diamond tester. This is because the cheap diamond testers are not actually diamond testers, but rather they test for heat conductivity, evidenced by the fact that sometimes foreign materials can also be detected as diamond.

  • Moissanite on a more advanced tester will always detect as Moissanite as it should do, Moissanite is a natural gemstone in it's own respect and not a diamond replica.
